He is super good looking in person. His face is almost perfectly symmetrical, and his body is lean and muscular (though he does seem shorter than 6'0", but then again, he was standing next to Eric Fehr and Dustin Byfuglien, who are 6'4" and 6'5" respectively!). Re: girlfriend, confirmed that yes, he does have one, and he did refer to her in an interview that appeared in the little booklet they hand out at home games. He said he'd been talking to his girlfriend and parents about preferring to spend $250 000 on 30 seconds in space than on a new car. Anyway, Slates IS awesome. He's real, genuine, handsome, and true to his real life.

I think Slates is taken, just because of his polite thanks-but-no-thanks way of acknowledging interest in him (hello - he's sexy and a professional hockey player) but letting girls know that while it's flattering, he's not into it. Sigh - lucky Slater's gf! I wish my bf was so kind! (Just a thought - I don't know him, but it's a feeling I get from observing quite casually. If he is single, more power to him for keeping it all on the DL and avoiding puck bunnies!)

I saw him once with all the guys at the bar and is it sad to say out of the 10 or so guys he was with he was the only guy that didn't have girls hanging off him all night playing tonsil hockey. If you are really serious about a hockey player on this Thrasher team being overpaid, you need to look at the statistics.  Specifically, look at face-off percentages, time played vs. points scored (and none of this power play junk ala Kovalchuk)  Then look at salaries-Todd White (please!) Hainsey (what a joke) etc., etc., etc.
