Maybe the willingness to be dishonest to get what you want is one of the traits that attracted Brian to his "girlfriend?"

GG...come on, cl work...isn't that a four letter word to her? Think about it, what the f*ck is she doing all day? Helping him with crossword puzzles, doubt it, don't see her as having a very educated vocabulary; helping him do 2000 piece puzzles, only if each puzzle piece is approximately 3" big otherwise, forget it, way beyond her skill level; reviewing BB & B flyers to see what the next shopping trip may provide - perhaps...that's within her abilities; checking his bank account balance - yep, definitely think that's likely...needs to know where things stand so to speak; text, tweet, e-maill, call "friends" to brag about how she's the sh*t - most definitely...gotta rub it in; check internet/bw gf forum - abso-f*cking-lutely - MUST know what's being said. #wiseone

@spanky & GG...right on girls. I think there has been some "untruths" regarding his health issues since 2010 (which he admitted) AND as GG pointed out, dishonesty seems to be one of his basic characteristics or so it seems. It appears that lying/cheating comes very easily to him. Makes me seriously wonder what happened in his marriage. Maybe she got fed up with lies or cheating...we'll never know but just sayn'. #wiseone

Brian Sabean and the team's front office have two options. First, they could offer him a 20 percent pay cut in arbitration, the maximum allowable. That would take Wilson down from the $8.5 million he's getting this year down to $6.4 million.

That's still a great salary for someone who will still be working his way back and could have an innings limit imposed. In fact, it might be too good a salary as far as the Giants are concerned.

Which brings us to the second choice. The Giants could opt not to tender Wilson a contract, let him become a free agent and try to bring him back at a much lower salary.

Unfortunately ,deceit seems to come easy both on the job and in his private life.
Anonymous (Rookie) wrote on 2012-05-27T17:47:29

You bet he has some trust issues to work out with the Giants.  The guy admitted to covering up his elbow pain all last year, lying to Boch so he could close out that last inning, and who knows what else - that's just what he admitted to.

Anonymous (Veteran) wrote on 2012-05-27T16:28:43
Does anyone know if he was honest from the beginning of his elbow issues last season, I mean in regards to the organization? He's had the same breakdown of his elbow before. I can't imagine it felt much different then. If he downplayed the issue trying to fight throught it and didn't let them know, I'm sure the organization wouldn't be pleased about it. IF that happened, is there a chance they'd renew him?
Anonymous (Rookie) wrote on 2012-05-27T16:05:57
I guess I should add that when he stops pitching for the Giants, whenever that is, I will really miss him.
Anonymous (Rookie) wrote on 2012-05-27T16:03:20
Wilson actually isn't a free agent next year. He is still under control of Giants for one more year. However, he doesn't have a contract for next year. The Giants can either sign him to a new contract, trade him, or release him. He isn't really tradable because of TJ, so the Giants will either resign him or release him. He will probably make less than this year's 8.5 mil, if he gets a contract, because of the TJ. Who knows what the Giants are thinking on offering a new contract. They might feel they owe him an opportunity to close next year, but I suspect that they wouldn't sign him beyond next year, since they have Hembree who is almost ready for the big leagues. He is their closer of the future right now.
Anonymous (Veteran) wrote on 2012-05-27T14:13:50
@Rooks I don't think he'll be very marketable after having two TJ surgeries. There will be doubts about his performance. Even he knows that most of the players that have undergone multiple TJ surgeries don't make it back. I think best thing he can do is come back to the Giants have an awesome ST and hope they give him another contract, but prbly not as much as he's making now. I have a hard time seeing him with another big club. They might see him more as a liability with little in return. With having said that, I hope he gets back to how dominant he was in 2010. He wasn't so much of "personality" and his game did most of the talking. Wishing him a speedy recovery and hoping he knows where to focus.

hi guys! i'm an avid reader on this site but don't ever post... after a long argument with a friend last night, i'm really sad to say that i don't think brian is going to pitch for the giants again, after this season, he is officially a free agent and the giants bullpen is starting to build a better reputation for itself. we have more of a variety of bullpen pitchers that we pay less for than brian combine and i have a feeling a team in the american league will pick him up with a great contract. soo, sooo, sooo sad. i'm wondering what you ladies think?
Anonymous (Veteran) wrote on 2012-05-27T12:02:35
Brian said in his most recent press interview, that he needs to be protected from himself. I agree, because he does things to extremes.  If Brian is too thin, it's going to slow his healing. Timmy is also too thin, and we are seeing its effects.  He's running out of energy quite dramatically, in the 4th innings of his starts.

This is taken from the article, Why Is Being Underweight Bad? which explains why body fat is important...

The reason that storing fat is useful is that it means we have a back up store of energy and the body can then burn those fat cells in order to release the glucose and ATP we need to perform our bodily functions. Someone who is underweight will not have this fat to burn and so they will quickly run out of energy. This is more serious than you might think as in order to keep going the body will then 'cannibalise' itself and burn other tissue for fuel such as muscle mass. This then means that an underweight person is likely to have a low skeletal muscle as it will be constantly burned for energy. This weakness will then mean they are unable to perform basic tasks and will also leave them more prone to accident and injury (muscles help to keep us balanced and also add a protective layer to defend against impacts).

You might think that you don't need these extra stores of energy if you're not planning on going running at all or doing any other marathon endurance events. However this is ignoring the fact that the body needs energy to perform all its normal tasks and even when you're sleeping or motionless the body will burn fat stores in order to give it energy to maintain your immune system, or to make repairs and heal wounds etc. If your body doesn't have the energy to perform these tasks however then this will leave your body vulnerable with a weaker immune system and will mean that wounds heal more slowly and you are slower to recover from illness as well as more vulnerable to getting ill in the first place.

Reply-to:There is no proof besides what someone thought they heard about his body fat being 7.5% awhile ago. Hes really about his fitness and most of all BASEBALL. I doubt he would endanger his career with being too skinny and I highly doubt bochy would let it happen either without giving him hell about it. Its common sense. Hes fine just less muscle mass and more lean body.

According to the Rookie who posted it, Brian's 7.5% body fat was discussed in "The Franchise."  As for Bochy "giving him hell," I wish him luck. Bochy doesn't seem to have a lot of control over Brian, as we've seen.

Thanks for the body fat guidelines for baseball players Santo. I had never read any guidelines for baseball players before. I also wanted to point out that the 7 1/2 percent body fat is BEFORE he lost weight this past offseason. He certainly lost muscle mass because the Giants told him to stop doing so much weightlifting. But he also clearly lost fat as well, so I think he is under 7 1/2 now.
Anonymous (Veteran) wrote on 2012-05-27T00:10:52
Reply-to:...Hes just how I personally like my men. In shape and lean. There is nothing wrong with that.

I'm not talking about personal preferences. He's too thin, according to Major League standards. If he really plans to come back in 2013 and close for the Giants, he won't be in optimum health if he's underweight.

Anonymous (Veteran) wrote on 2012-05-27T00:02:26
Thanks @Santo! I'm hoping that everything works out. @Rook I'm super stoked that the Celtics made it! I new they'd beat the 76ers! And since I can't stand MIA I hope they beat them. The Spurs and Thunder is gonna be a good series.

I got this off LetsTalkPitching.com

Gene Coleman in 52-Week Baseball Training wrote:
The average pro player, from class A to the major leagues, is about six feet tall, weighs 190 lbs, and is 11 percent fat. Young players are usually lighter and leaner than older players are. Body weight, muscle mass, and strength increase with age and maturity. Height remains relatively constant...As a group pitchers (six feet one inch tall) are about two inches taller than catchers and one and a half inches taller than infielders and outfielders. Pitchers and catchers (190-200 pounds) are slightly heavier than other players are. Infielders (180 to 185 pounds) are the lightest players and have the least amount of muscle mass. Outfielders on average weigh 185 to 190 pounds and have the lowest relative body fat. Pitchers are 12.3 percent fat, catchers are 11.5 percent fat, infielders are 9.4 percent fat, and outfielders are 8.4 percent fat.
Gene Coleman goes to talk on about how you should keep your body fat under 12%, and if you are a position player, under 10%, but no less than 8% body fat. Why? Well because the more weight you carry on your body, the slower you will end up being. The less agile you are, flexible you are, etc. Yet under 8% you are walking the line that you don't want to cross. Fat can be good on the body, but not too much, not too little.

You really think all he eats is twix and snickers and protein shakes? Come on . . I'm sure he's eating really healthy and he's only human. Pretty sure humans are allowed to have candy every once in a while. And I don't think cl makes him this way. She actually in my opinion looks a little bulky and not anorexic looking like its been said on here. I think that they encourage each other to make healthier decisions and this is why they have been so successful in getting in shape. If someone is all muscle and no fat than that's a great thing. Who would ever strive to be a little fat? That's just silly. He looks great and has someone to enjoy his love for fitness with him. You guys should be happy for him instead of saying he's too thin. I guess its true. . You can't please everyone!

Brian could take a lesson from Panda, who is regularly tweeting updates on his condition...

In 140-character dribs and drabs, Pablo Sandoval is keeping everyone apprised of his rehab through Twitter. On Friday he said he took 50 swings with a regular bat left-handed and 25 right-handed. He also is taking grounders and throwing to first and second base.

The bigger question of when Sandoval will rejoin the Giants he cannot answer, but manager Bruce Bochy tackled it. "He's getting better," Bochy said. "We're probably looking at a couple of weeks if all goes well and there are no setbacks, which is good news for us."

Anonymous (Rookie) wrote on 2012-05-26T20:08:33
Although professional athletes should strive to have low body fat, it can be overdone. Remember that Lincecum has had that problem in the past. At the beginning of last season, Wilson supposedly had body fat of 7 1/2 percent. This was discussed on the franchise television show. Although he probably put on weight at the end of last season because he was 't playing and couldn't work out, he really didn't need to lose much body fat. In my opinion, he has overdone the weight loss since last season. The camera puts on a few pounds, so he is actually thinner than he looks in that picture. I think this is a CL issue, in that she is thin so he has to be also. Or maybe the other way around: he felt like he needed to be thin in order to pitch and insists that she be thin as well. A pitcher needs strength and stamina to pitch, so if he is too thin, he can't pitch. He looks unhealthy to me.

Being an "Auntie" on this forum has nothing to do with age.

Santo, you are the pearl in an oyster that has escaped the clutches of humanity. :o) I think that, hags though we may be, we're pretty darn stellar. About any negativity on this board... it's hard to praise someone you admire when you know they don't deserve it at the moment. Doesn't mean we won't have a chance to admire him again. Admiration must be earned, though.

One thing I've noticed about the ladies who post on here is that they are darn good communicators, writers, poets. Spanky praising her pillow and bitchplease with her Bic and Nair... concise, eloquent, yet says so much. Another lady is working on a book. The babes are talented and I'm enjoying it.

So Brian totally moved to the peninsula huh. Too many crazy fans, CL can manipulate him and he doesnt have as easy access to all of his old "girls" anymore. Pobracito Brian.

Why do you guy post 10-12 times a day if you dont even like the guy? I remember when we all used to get along. It all felt really positive. I know Brian hasnt made the best choices when it comes to companionship, and thier situation is down right disgusting but I wish we could talk about something else on here besides song lyrics and negative comments. What you guys post really belongs on the sucks forum. Someone once posted here that you guys were a bunch of mean girls and they were right.

Feel free to change the subject, Rookie.  The posters on here are pretty respectful of one another.  Maybe that wasn't always the case. Differing opinions are welcome, but you should be open to hearing views other than your own. Yes, many of us are disillusioned by Brian's recent choices and we use this forum to discuss it because -- it's a discussion board! We've gotten to know each other a little.  We like chatting with each other. We also love baseball and the Giants. The board has been through some transformations, just as Brian has. But, rookies are welcome and so are differing opinions. So, if you want to join the discussion, please feel free to share your opinions and change it up.

Reply-to:Nothing worse than an anti-social baseball Player!

The spirit of baseball is wholesome, upbeat and humble.  Nobody's perfect but, you can aspire to being your best self, as exemplified by Lou Gehrig. I think "Fear the Beard" started out innocently enough and then Brian took it to another level and turned it into a moneymaking BRAND that has a sinister, arrogant and unfriendly quality to it.

Reply-to:Also kind of sad that the Cash tattoo (I *think*) is the only one on his body that doesnt speak to his heritage or higher calling....

Of all the portraits he could have put on his body, why that one? Why didn't he put a portrait of his father instead? That would have been so sweet and would have carried the heritage theme of his other tattoos.

As I'm typing this I just realized - it was probably Cheating Loser's idea! She doesn't seem opposed to getting flippant things tattoed on herself. I hope he gets it removed when he dumps her.
Anonymous (Rookie) wrote on 2012-05-21T19:41:34
Didn't he say in an interview that it (the Cash tat) was where he was directing people who expressed concern over his arm? I think he kind of got tired of answering questions about his healing, or so he said. Probably should have waited on getting that one... Didn't work out so well to flip off those people that were concerned considering where he's at now. I definitely think that one goes in the annals of poorly timed tattoos.
Anonymous (Legend) wrote on 2012-05-21T19:14:55
Maybe he the FU is aimed at people who keep asking "When are you going to shave that beard"?
Anonymous (Legend) wrote on 2012-05-21T19:10:12

What does it tell about a person who chooses to permanently tattoo an FU picture on his right calf? Does he have anger issues and would like to flip off society or authority? Does Brian think he's a rebel?  Yeah, a rebel without a cause.

BTW the story behind the Johnny Cash picture:

Jim Marshall, who took the photograph of Cash during the 1969 San Quentin prison concert that was recorded for the famous album, said he called to Cash and asked him to give "a picture for the warden," and that was Cash's response.

My heart fluttered for the humble, clean-shaven, pious closer, formerly known as Brian Wilson. Now, he's anything but a role model. Now, he's just a symbol of crass commercialism and self promotion. His "Fear the Beard" character tries to depict bullying and poor sportsmanship as desirable. What a disappointment.

Nike has probably paid millions for the depiction of their logo on its shoes... Ostensibly, thats how Brian wants us to see him.

Bobblehead must not be that popular since it is on sale now. Looks like it would give little kids nightmares. Heck, it looks so threatening it would give me nightmares!

Okay, just one more comment about Timmy...  On KNBR, this morning, they were talking toTimmy's father. There was a suggestion that maybe Timmy's big, 2-yr. contract may have had a negative effect, as in, maybe he relaxed a bit too much and is not in the best of condition...

An interesting discussion is worth comment. I think that you should write more on this topic, it might not be a taboo subject but generally people are not enough to speak on such topics.
