I was good friends with Adam growing up 1st-9th grade and I called and spoke to his mom acouple years ago and left my number for Adam to return my call and to my surprise my phone never rung!! Just wanted to check up on him as I now live in central Florida (where Spring training is)

Adam your getting what you deserve!! What goes around comes around! Adam it appears that you forgot where you come from! Do you know where New Caney is on a map these days? Alot of walks doesn't mean shit. Your either too picky to swing and when you do swing you can't hit shit! Why walk? Considering the situation, he is a really nice guy and lots of fun. He did not attempt to hide his infidelity, although he constantly fed my friend various lines of crap when she would see media reports that he was married & had children. In 2009 he missed the all-star game because he wife was giving birth which was widely reported, it then became very clear that he in fact did have a wife and children. So sad....all baseball players cheat either openly or on the DL but, every single one of them do so. Legend

Seeing as how both of his children were born in November, it's a blatent lie that his wife was giving birth during the All Star game that he missed.  Plus, he's only been selected for ONE AS game... and he attended.  So, there are two lies right there in this comment... therefore, I don't believe the other crap written here.

alright 2 clear some of this up about adam dunn, he parents were rich, guest house, swimming pool, tool shed, garage seperate from the house, lots of property and a street named dunn lane, but doesnt make him a bad guy, and all of this while he was still in high school, im no baseball fan though, just same grad year at new caney high

I have known Adam since he was a baby.  He has never been a "spoiled rich kid that lived in a big house".  His family lives in a modest home and have always been a close knit family.  He was always a big ol' lug that everybody liked, great personality, makes everyone laugh.  His wife is a babe and a sweetheart to boot.  It's like Paul Newman said, "Why go out for a hamburger when you have steak at home!"  So leave him alone.  He's not looking for any "hamburgers"!

Not sure if you pay much attention, but during his time in Cinci, the Reds had an average (at best) lineup (except in 2005). They never really put up high OBPs, so it isn't his fault they didn't get on base that much for him. He also has 89 intentional walks with RISP.

Also, the Diamondbacks offense didn't get any worse after they traded for Dunn. Their pitching did pretty bad in August and September.

Reynolds, Young and Tracy hurt their lineup a lot more than Dunn did.

Don't get me wrong, Pujols is better than Dunn, but the gap between them isn't as big as most people think.

Dunn could possibly end up being one of the greatest hitters ever (or top 50).

If people seriously think Dunn sucks, then they don't know a thing about baseball.

Dunn is just like Pujols, but a relatively worse fielder and hits for a much lower BA (which is an overused and bad statistic; OBP is better). Dunn has actually been a somewhat better basestealer than Pujols.

Dunn also has a SecA (Secondary average) of .488 (better than Pujols, who has an SecA of .446 (15th all time)), which ranks 6th all time. Only Thome (.493), McGwire (.539), Ted Williams (.553), Ruth (.594), and Bonds (.606) are ahead of him.

Dunn: Career .381 OBP (very good considering his career BA is .247, which is a huge difference), 100 walks per season, 40 home runs, on pace for 500 . And yet, he probably won't be voted in because the HOF voters are stupid cunts who think wins, batting average and rings are the best ways to evaluate players.

Re: WBC 09 - It would have been nice if Adam Dunn had been used at designated hitter instead of in right field, where he did not even try to throw out two runners on sacrifice flies that were not terribly deep.

I went to high school with Dunn in New Caney, and played football with him for 3 years.  (He was a standout QB before baseball).  He was a spoiled rich kid then with the big huge house and the big long driveway, and he's probably the same now.  Porter/New Caney is a shithole town, but his family had money so he had nothing to worry about.  Big goofball in school, but overall was not a bad guy.  Everybody knew he was going to go pro, they started priming him around 5th grade (at least thats what I think since 5th grade is when Porter Elementary and New Caney Elem. merged in New Caney Intermediate)....funny thing is, they always thought he was gonna be pro football.  until maybe the 10th grade or so...
