I was at an Essendon supporters night in Berwick last year, Hille was there with Watson and Gumbleton, Simon Madden was MCing. It was interesting the first two were up on stage and he asked the standard questions 'so at home, you've got a girlfriend how is that going' then big Hilly was on stage and it goes 'so home life have you got a girlfriend at the moment, then simon almost immediately (very cunningly i might add) goes to the audience 'you probably shouldnt even ask that as a question these days' and the conversation had moved to football and the Bombers game the night before against Hawthorn in an instant. I'm sure the whole audience completely missed any inkling towards anything out of the norm but as a gay Bombers supporter myself I thought there was an obvious occurence going on. We're talking about a guy who is definitely in the top 5 hottest dudes in the league and has seldom been seen in arms with female company in the public arena (brownlows, Bombers functions etc).  I also dont know of too many players who have as big a gap between their best football and worst football, he plays one quarter of top footy in the ruck ie his last quarter against port in the final round of the year which had a big impact in seeing us home in that game but then he will play rubbish football like in the final against Carlton, he has always appeared to be a player that you dont know whether he has mentally showed up on any given day, believe me as any gay man hiding behind the wall, volatility in mental exertion is a pretty common theme. Look unless he comes out himself  nobody will know what his deal is and to be honest it is his own business. As an AFL player I agree with Aka in that coming out would probably do more initial harm to your club (rather than homosexual people in general who any coming out of influential high up sports people presents positive role models to other people born homosexual) than good and in the end the responsibility is to your football club that is paying you multiple hundreds of thousands per year. Its a tough industry to engage in as a homosexual man but anyone who thinks no AFL players have been in this position and that homosexuals have never existed in AFL football is an absolute bafoon
